Unfortunately, in this world there are many orphaned children due to circumstances such as disease, war, HIV/AIDS and others. Or sometimes parents are just not able to financially support their family. Zarmisha Ministry supports the Kidron Valley Orphanage located in Naminya, Uganda, just outside the city of Jinja. Kidron Valley is run by Horn of Salvation Ministry and Pastor John Mukuya and his wife Barbara. Zarmisha Ministry has been blessed to be connected with Pastor John Mukuya and his Horn of Salvation Ministry. There are currently 44 children in the orphanage and many more could be added except for the lack of adequate food and resources.
Unemployment rates in Uganda are numbered at greater than 65% of the population. Most families in rural areas are peasant farmers, working what little land they have to provide food for their family. The lack of resources available to these people causes all kinds of strain in their lives. Lack of nutritious food, clean water and proper shelter are the first that come to mind. On our October 2010 mission trip to Uganda our team visited the women of Pastor Noah’s church in Mutai, Jinja District, Uganda. During this time the women of the mission team met the women from Pastor Noah’s church and these women brought us an idea we hadn’t thought of yet. The women said they wanted to raise animals to sell at the market to earn money to feed their family and contribute to the economic stability of their homes.
Zarmisha Ministry working in conjunction with Horn of Salvation Ministry (HOSM) hopes to support new pastors in the new church plants founded through the gospel crusades of HOSM. These pastors and leaders of the new church live in poverty and struggle to survive. By supporting the pastor of each new church plant we will free them to spend more time working at the church and ministering to the body of Christ and to the community.
This is a combination ministry sponsoring gospel crusades to plant a new church and then sponsoring that church. The goal is to eventually provide a church building where new believers can meet and be a symbol of the Lord’s presence in the community. Presently it takes approximately $450 per crusade. This includes a mobile stage, sound equipment, food for the pastors and workers and training materials.
Many prisons around the world are primitive and barren compared to the prisons in America. Uganda is no exception. This ministry reaches out to those in prison who desperately need the good news of the gospel. Horn of Salvation Ministries (HOSM) reaches to those prisoners through various outreach activities such as hairstyling to share the gospel. During these outreaches, personal hygiene items are also brought to make life in prison slightly more comfortable.
